...without a doubt or any other form of public transport including taxis....
....if you don't need to bring a car into London really just don't, it's a absolute waste of time especially if you don't know your way round.....traffic lights are the very least of your problems....believe me I know what I am talking about.hullbilly said:

I dont think there is a route planner, but it would excellent if there was one!
...true that does not mean he necessarily lives in London.....if he did he should know his way round without having to ask....he might drive a Porsche but support a crap football team.....I dont think there is a route planner, but it would excellent if there was one!

Off topic, but this is where the next generation of Sat Navs need to go. Proper local knowledge rather than assuming all 30 limits are the same. Or at least having different grades of 30 limit.
For example, I live near J5 M3 in Hampshire and my girlfriend lives in Beckenham, inside the M25. I've tried about ten routes and the quickest one is M3, M25 and then up through Croydon. Every Sat Nav I've ever tried (an early Magallen, my Garmin and BMW's own) sends me across South London (Wimbledon, Merton etc), which is quite frankly ridiculous, and it always takes longer. The Magellen even took me home through Westminster once and down the M4!). The reason is that even with traffic re-routing enabled, Sat Navs a) assume you're averaging ~20-25mph in a 30 limit and b) only signal bad traffic if its exceptional and flagged by a traffic update. Stationary at 5pm on a Friday is not exceptional for South London, and you'll never average 20-25mph!

....if you don't need to bring a car into London really just don't, it's a absolute waste of time.Once you've lived here for a while, you find that there are a fair few routes and times that taking the car is a decent decision.
There are plenty when it's a terrible idea too, of course, which is why I hav a scooter.
Taking public transport comes far, far behind car, bike, scooter or taxi for me.
