Dunlop SP Super Sport Race Tyres
Discussion
Having failed to get Pirelli PZero Corsa's to fit I collected a set of Dunlop SP Super Sport Race tyres from Dunlop Motorsport this morning. I've gone for 225/40 front and 245/35 rear. Like the Pirelli the 255/35 Dunlop is significantly wider than the Toyo equivalent. The 245/35 Dunlop is actually still wider than the 255/35 Toyo! This time it fits under the rear wheel arch though. Clearance on the front tyre is tight but it's not rubbing anywhere so hopefully it'll be OK.
Now the interesting bit... these tyres appear so far to be excellent. Response to steering is very sharp. In fact response full stop is amazing. As a few of you know I already run Nitrons on the car but so far only with Toyo tyres. I think these Dunlops are going to be the icing on the cake. They are noisy and are not very good in standing water but if you want mega performance for track days and summer driving these could be worth a look. They are surprisingly cheap too.
I'm doing a track day at Donnington in a couple of weeks so that'll really put 'em through their paces.
