Clean Mk1 for about a grand? Do they even exist?
Discussion
I'm looking for another Mk1 as I miss my Harvard.
I'm not fussy on spec/age/mileage, even service history really, I'm just after the cleanest car possible which I can drive away for a grand, give or take a couple of hundred £££.
Its a car I'd intend to keep forever, I don't mind doing a few bits and bobs along the way...
Am I dreaming?

I paid a grand for mine. It does have some rust on the sills/rear arches.
However - it passed its MOT yesterday with advisories for "slight corrosion" in those areas.
That gives me 12 months to get them sorted so I don't have to rush and outlay a chunk of money at the start.
ETA: Mine's a UK '95 - 108k miles, very comprehensive service history, no electrics, or PAS.

Real nice one at MX5motors in doncaster up at £1400 ish i think. Was a green mk1 and looked pretty sweet. Maybe could get them to knock a little bit off?
I was there yesterday he's got a couple up for sale at the moment. Look good noticed one (red) at £1650 but didn't see a price on the other two. Goodwood Sportscars in Berwick always seems to have a selection of 5 or so MX5s at a time - usually Mk1s, usually Eunos, and rust-free too. There's a couple at £1295 and £1495 at the moment:

You might get a good one for £1000 but will take a lot of effort and looking (least as a past owner you know what to look for), I have seen some really crap rusty examples make £800+ I think £1500 is nearer the mark for a clean rust free mk1. (i got £1700 for my last one in the summer, a very clean early 1.6.
If I was going to keep for ever I would be inclined to increase my budget by a few hundred now to avoid expenses later.

I'm trying to sell my Spec-V at the moment, it's got 12mths MOT and is under £1k and I thought it would fly out, but seems like there is loads of cheap ones for sale at the moment. No nice cheap ones about when I was buying, sods law I suppose...
Your '5 looks nice (photos in the ad aren't great though) - rust free I presume? I'm still browsing for a decent cheap '5 - shame you're at the other end of the country!OllieWinchester said:

Anyone bought a car from here?http://www.goodwoodsportscars.co.uk/gallery.html
The prices versus the standard of car seem too good to be true...
