Erm, knight a chap who says that Hitler had the right idea? Bernie has shot his mouth off on too many occasions to be seen as 'safe'. Mind you, it might be worthwhile just to really ps off Maxy who, I've seen suggested, really, really wants to be called sir and was a bit upset when Frank Williams got his. The NotW's video put paid to that idea though.

The one who deserves it more than Bernie though is Ron. I wonder if he turned it down. If I was him and knew that Maxy realy wanted it I might just to really wind him up.

Bernie doesn't care. He; been anti-establishment since he wasn't allowed membership of BRDC many, many years ago. He takes a perverse pleasure in being on the outside shafting everyone.

I am 99.9% sure he is already a member and has been for some time. The member search function on their site isn't showing him but that's not a true guide as a couple of other people who I know are members don't show up on there either.

Hasn't Bernie done everything to ensure that F1 does not help Britain in any way shape or form? I thought being Knighted was for doing a great service for your country, not trying to take away the money that funds Britains simply amazing automotive engineers.

Or am I missing something and he has actually done something, anything for Britain?

The clue was in the phrase "many years ago". At the time he was a driver he was refused entry and he did resent the snub. It's all in the book "Bernie's Game" which is highly recommended (if a little out of date now).
