Hi Guys,

Need some advice please.

I have had to remove my silencer from the car due to an engine change. I have a buyer for it but I would like to clean it up for him but, being as domesticated as a sabre toothed tiger, I don't really know how to do it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

GG.

Thanks for the advice.

The silencer is stainless steel.

Is Autosol available in Halfrauds?

If decent quality non polished stainless - scotchbright is fine no point polishing anything but the tailpipe

Soapy water (maybe even engine cleaner to get grease off) and scrubbing brush to get the worst crud off, then scotchbrite and autosol.

The solution for the outside has already been mentioned. For the inside, use caustic soda. Just be sure to avoid it touching anything of the external parts as it will leave permanent marks.
