Fiat Uno Soft-Top Revealed In Sao Paolo
It's the cutesy cab for the age of austerity...
This is the new Fiat Uno concept, revealed at the Sao Paolo motor show in Brazil.
If PistonHeads is your sole source for news of matters automotive, then the new Fiat Uno may have passed you by - we don't as a rule focus to sharply on budget city cars aimed at the Brazilian market - but this new cabrio concept is a little more interesting.
It's powered by Fiat's 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol four, giving it a healthy 152hp and 124mph potential.
Cosmetic tweaks include 17-in wheels, twin central exhaust pipes, chunkily modified bodywork and a moulded hood cover, making what sounds like a fun and fairly fast open-top two-seater.
Sadly it's only a concept for now, but we could see this as a fun runaround for the French Riviera, or as a hire car for a Mediterranean island holiday. Or maybe not...
Discussion
I like it. It's deliberately, defiantly utilitarian and the offset grille harks back to the original Panda. I admire its defiance of the blandness of conformity evident in all manner of Korean rivals. Why can't we have properly cheap, utilitarian cars in this country though? I just don't buy the 'no-one wants them' line - truth is, we're just not offered the chance to buy them. Enough people out there buy new Korean bargain-boxes, so I see no reason why people wouldn't want cars that offered even more metal for even less money.

I acutally really like it. Few tweeks here and there and I don't see why this couldn't sell well here. A hard top convertible would be a better be though.
I can't understand why they never offered a soft-top version of the Grande Punto. Especially with the old grille style, it'd look like a Maserati Spyder.Gassing Station | General Gassing [Archive] | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
