I have been repairing and restoring a Cabbie 1985 and need to get it mobile .It fires up with a dose of easy start but I cant get fuel upto the fuel rail.
If I disconnect the fuel pump lines and connect the pump to a battery it pumps fine but soon as I put the fuel lines back on even when connected direct to a battery nothing happens. Is this just a straightforward pump swap?

Sounds a bit odd that if you run the pump direct to the battery it will still not work . You have 2 relays in the boot on the RHS at the top of the tank by the ECU check you have power when cranking . If it fails when the engine tries to start then then it will be possibly ecu signal lost. Do the injectors click when you crank the engine ??

I am going to send the ECU of for testing the relays click ok so I am kind of going down the ECU route as it is one i picked up untested from EBAY.

By Powering up the fuel pump there was plenty of fuel circulating around the fuel rail but no sign of her firing up.

Sounds like you have lost signal from the distributor ! Possibly amplifier on top of b bank manifold can cause ! Do you have a good spark ??
