Pesonally I'd do a road driving course.

Yes, do some sort of instructed circuit training and an advanced road driving course.
The two are totally different in their objectives.

I did the IAM when I was 17. Some people may say that it is just full of grandads telling you to slow down, but I found it very helpfull in observation skills, which I lacked after passing my test. I'm sure it has saved me on a few occasions.

Good for you, undertaking the IAM test at 17.
To achieve the required standard you will have to obey all speed limits, however, making progress when appropriate.
Thereafter, you decide your own limits.
Your risk.
Observation, remember.

The first drive out, I got told to accelerate harder, which I wasnt expecting. In all, the whole course was not what I expected; it was far far better. A lot of it depends on your observer though.

I would highly recomend it.

Top tip time! "New drivers! Since your insurance is going to cost you thousands of pounds per year, even if you're careful, get value for money by driving like a dick."

...but I'm just jealous, because my minor fault count was well into double figures. Well done; sounds like you'll push the average skill level up a notch or two smile
