1st gear crunch in G50 box

In my 1986 911 Carrera 3.2 when going back to 1st gear at any speed (even 1+ Klm) --gear crunches badly either pushing gently or fast. Does not happen every change back. Is this oil related--please advise oil/additive-- or do I need new synchros. 2nd will crunch sometimes.

I've had a similar prob with my 964 (G50 box too) - I've found that the problem generally only seems to happen when the oil is cold and is exacerbated by being 'over-delicate' with the gearchange. If instead you use a man's gearchange it behaves itself

I have read that similar problems can be caused by clutch lever engagement needing adjusting, or worn synchros (rebuild :-o). Remember to use the _full_ travel of the clutch pedal and see if that helps.
