As per the title, ive been having a shop about but the choice is so mind bogginly that my head now hurts!
Id like a nice 42inch full hd 1080p tv for films, blu ray, sky tv and PS3 mainly.

will be wall mounted

and I have a budget of circa 400?

Regards!

I'll be the first to say it - Panasonic 42X20 gives a cracking picture can be had for a little over 400 quid - it's only HD ready, but you'll only get the benefit of 1080p when watching blu rays (Sky and most PS3 will be 1080i at best), and even then you'd have to sit pretty close on a 42" to see any difference!

Makro have a 40" Samsung Freeview 1080P LCD TV - LE40C530 for £299.99 plus VAT as of 3rd November. No idea how good these things are but, thought it worth a mention. smile

Ive had a walk around comets, currys and the online retailers

seems the short list so far is

pana tx-p42g20b and tx-l42d26b

and the LG 42le5900

the pana's seemed to give the best pics with high specs while viewed in both comets and currys
think the pana's were 699 and 780
cant remember what lg's was.

what do you guys think

I am ordering a 42G20 on Monday from the resident PH supplier, who has talked me around from the equivalent LED Panny that I saw side by side on Saturday.

Some DVDs have a set of calibration tests hidden away in the extras - Disney/ Pixar ones are a good place to start if you have any (I borrowed one of the missus' for mine - honest!)... You can buy proper calibration discs too if you want to take it really seriously!

Out of interst, was that Comet in-store or on online? I can get 10% off in-store prices, so that would make for a very cheap 42G20... scratchchin

That's strange, just been to the Comet website, and it is showing as £699.99 maybe they realised they were selling it cheaper than they needed to...

John Lewis had them up for £630 this morning, and then they went back to £699. Mine is getting delivered on Friday, I will let mine set its self up on terestial and then get it plugged into SkyHD.

Just bought a 42 inch Panasonic off pixmania for 320 quid plus delivery.

It's only Hd ready but its for the girlfriends father and he only wants it for freeview anyways.

Edit. For some reason its now gone up to 350.
