Top of the morning, 1 and all,

can sports seats be retro-fitted into the F355 Berlinetta?

How much better are they than the regular seats for serious track work? Me and the passenger are often all over the place when cornering hard, so I am of the persuasion that the sports seats will be better - ARE THEY?

Secondly, I do hundreds of miles (and even a thousand miles a day on occasions) - the standard seats provide reasonable comfort in straight line mile munching - would this be possible with the sports seats?

Obliged much.

From what I understand, the seats are more or less a straight swap, but they are very rare now.

(I could have been told a load of flannel by various car dealers of repute, but I'm guessing not).

Keep hold of the originals, and put some really nice aftermarket ones in?

The factory sports seats for the 355 are very hard to come by. I've only seen 1 set change hands in 2 years, and that was for North of £5k.
A lot of people retro-fit the 360 carbon seats which usually change hands for about £2k a pair. They're not a straight swap and you need to modify the runners and mounts to get them to fit (from what I understand).

The 360 seats came in S,M and L (I think, referring to width) so you'd need to make sure you fit in whatever you buy.

I fitted aftermarket ones to mine. Cobra Misanos. I find them a good compromise in terms of comfort and lateral support.

I've got 2 pairs, one cloth and one leather. The cloth ones grip better, the leather ones (currently fitted) look nicer.

Cactussed - thanks for those snippets - very useful.

And at £5k - a little eye-watering too.

I will try to test some out before committing to that kind of outlay.

I paid about 4.5k for a set two years ago and apparently they were a straight swap. At least the dealer never said it was an issue and they retro fitted them for me.
As for being more supportive, they aren't. They are very flat and you sort of sit on them. I am going back to normal comfort seats. If I were you, I would retro fit some challenge style seats and get them upholstered as per you cars interior. That would help, the sports seats are a total con if you ask me.

Actually. I'm going to put my second set of Cobras up for sale if you have the itch. PM me if you fancy.

They're good seats plus I can organise a retrim in matching leather if you like.
Just a thought.
