I pass this place in Horley near Gatwick 4 times a week:

Its a state of the art F1 simulator well, actually it's TEN simulators sitting side by side all connected up to each other so you can race your mates. Believe me, this is no arcade game set up for teenagers, its proper simulation and is used for race car driver training amongst other things. Infact a spotty teenager who is a whizz on the PS3 will struggle on here, apparently its about as close as you can get to driving an F1 car without having to part with ALOT of dosh.

The rates are pretty keen to, when you consider you and 9 mates can have a 15 minutes qualifying session followed by de-brief then a 15 minutes race for £30 each I would say its good value.

Anyone on here actually tried it out? driving

Yep have been 4 times - it's pretty good but to me lacks the feel of doing it yourself so I prefer Karting.....

I'll admit that it would never take the place of any real motorsport and I suppose it should never be considered as 'motorsport'. I think karting would have to take precedence over sitting in a studio in a fibreglass pod with no wheels!

They didn't have any vids on their site so I had a quick look on you-tube. It looks bloody rubbish. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0U3wKKc2eM0

What is the point of giving you a steering wheel to control the car with and then having a second virtual wheel in front of you? It totally ruins the feeling of immersion.

I went about a month ago with a group of 5 of us. Needless to say it wasn't fantastic, graphics were on par with an original Playstation and the actual feel of the simulator wasn't great. Also they told us the price of each bit of kit (approx 750k if I recall correctly) surely with running costs the business model doesn't look great!
