Yesterday afternoon was spent waiting for these tossers...

Coming out of a shop, went to pull away, and no power steering, arse! Quick investigation reveals bottom pulley not spinning, so off home on a flatbed. (after waiting 3 hours!)and if your battery is flat, can you get it out of park? can you eck, had to drag it on the bed on skids, as he never had no leads! Then put my leads on it at home, to get it in neutral to roll it off!

Skillfull tacticts saw these removed...

Revealing the problem, an outer stuck to an inner stuck with rubber, is a ste idea..

BMW want nearly a monkey for it ! Located a new one for £240....Half the car in bits, so good time to fix a leaking bottom hose connection (Push fit with a springclip WTF!) And a leaking oil supply line to turbos....it never rains...

Driving this at the mo seeing as the ex forgot i had a spare key...

how many miles has the car got? unlucky about the problems, hopefully you'll be back on the road in not too long with it. makes me feel not quite so bad about 2 minor break downs in the last 30k miles in a 28 year old car smile

Yes its the 335d. 123k up now. Workshop manual? The only time you would need one is for electrical, and they are a black art. Once you strip off the fancy covers, its just another engine. They keep changing fixings to make us keep buying new spanners, but its just a block/head/ancilleries at the end of the day.

The amusment driving a 6 pot petrol after so long in a tractor is great!

I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that you can shift the gearbox out of park, if you remove the dash surround on the gearstick, and using one of the screwdrivers in the toolkit in the back release the box?

do you do all your servicing yourself? presumably no warranty then? do you plan to keep it until it dies then? how many miles do you expect?

I've had a turbo re conned on mine, total cost £450. Injectors are an easy change, but expensive. I Drive is coded. Its not the cost of the warranty that grates, its the standard of service. If i had put mine into the dealer, it would have been a day to diagnose, and 3 days to get the car back, without a courtesy car.I would quite happily strip the gearbox down if it needed clutch packs etc, getting parts is the hardest part.
