sky movies sound problems
Discussion
There is a known problem with Dolby Digital broadcasts.
They changed the way they compressed the data about 4 years ago which meant that a load of amps incompatible. Despite being DD amps which worked perfectly well beforehand.
All Sky channels are affected apart from BBC HD which doesn't have the same compression.
I would test to see if there is the same issue with BBC HD. There is no cure. I've had a whole new box, and cables top to bottom.
ETA: The only cure is to turn DD off in the services section and listen in Pro Logic.

I had this problem a year ago (maybe two). There was no real cure to it, but suddenly the problem was resolved one day. On browsing the web there were thousands of people who had the same issue, and they all had it resolved on the same day. Despite Sky saying there was no problem at their end it was pretty obvious that they had carried out some sort of update that rectified the issue.
