Having just bought a Mk 1 GT3 Clubsport, I'm looking forward to a coming along and cadging a few rides. Hopefully, most of the Mk 1's have had some form of braking upgrade as the standard mk 1 brakes appear to be below parr.

There's nothing wrong with Mk I brakes, except the way they're used.....

From the Porsche Club website:

"Following on from our GT3 day at Goodwood in 2003 we were sold out for the 2004 event, on Bank Holiday Monday, even before we had a date or a price. So it must be err......GOOD.

In addition to the 25 cars booked for track sessions we have support from a number of people. As far as I am aware Porsche are hoping to join us from Reading and we may have a Porsche GT on static display. I have asked Mark Hutchison on numerous occasions to join us so hopefully we will have tyre support. 911 & Porsche World have asked if they can attend. So we are hoping that, weather permitting, we will have more than just a track day event.

If you would like to join us you are welcome and it's free access. Bring a crash helmet with you and look for spare passenger seats. If you don't ask, well you know the rest.

Maybe the largest turnout of GT3's in the UK this year. Plenty of RS's on show!"

At last count:
GT3 Mk1 x 11
GT3 Mk2 x 3
GT3RS x 5
993RS x 1
964 Cup Car x 1
993 x 1
996 C4S x 1
GT3R x 1
GT2 x 1

Peashooter, silver GT3 on the back of the lowloader by Melvs wagon?

Cheers for the heads up on this Melv, v nice to drop by & drool over more GT3s than I've ever seen at one time & how many GT3RS's!!! flipping eck!

I thought it was dead interesting that all the RS's I spotted in the afternoon were white with red (don't brits like the blue then??) & I didnt spot the self destructing made from weetabix ceramics brakes option on any of the RS's either.

As clubsport commented with so many GT3RS's on track at the same time, as they passed the pits it was rather like we were at Le Mans rather than Goodwood

Hmm Carrera GT- :lots of drool:

Ps Melv- you certainly made the snarling 993 GT2 work hard to get any distance on you, top chap

A great day good to catch up with some old mates and meet some new fellow Pork nutters.

An incredible collection of GT3 and other interesting pork on display...especially the REAL air cooled ones.
(here come the flames)

I was particularly impressed with the next generation Boxta found in the car park,,I may have to get one of those

Good to see you Melv, again impressed with your cup car performance, Good wood certainly shows who has a clue behind the wheel rather than the size of cheque they are prepared to write.

There was a white with blue RS at Castle Combe on saturday. Red certainly seems to be the popular choice though.

Maybe this is because the blue they use is a bit light? In my view they should have made it a couple of shades darker to make it closer to the 1973 car's colour. For this reason, I'd take the red version.

Red / White,,,,are we not missing the point? Is it not more relevant that the car is totally track focussed and possibly too hard for the road!
That is the rationale as to why i don't have one or even lust after one.
I am glad they exist but think a decent mk2 GT3 is probably an better car for overall use...that is if you must have a 996

Great to meet some of you at last and thanks to Bruce & Steve for the passenger rides. Will remember to book my car into the track day in time in future!

Mind you, the drive home was interesting particularly my other half deciding to explore the vmax potential of the car!

its exactly why i do lust after and own mine....each to his own of course...but i wouldn't say any of the GT3 models are well suited to the road...by their very design objective they are compromised as road cars.

Bit harsh ,GT2 owner reduced to 75% power or go home on next black flag and Mel was on slicks ..........was fun though...............
