Ok, I've tried the search pages, read the domain naming stuff, and have a handle on getting a domain name registered, say with godaddy or similar, but what now?
I've an idea for a website (non comercial) and want to have it hosted somewhere, it could be at my normal page http://homepage.ntlworld.com/warmfuzzies
But if I chose another domain name say wibble.net how does this work. I haven't the foggiest, could anyone be so kind as to point me in the right direction, or jolly me up a tad......

Thanks

Kevin

I do this for some simple web pages, using NTL as you suggest, with domains registered with 123reg.co.uk - there's an easy to use interface where you simply type the 'real' URL, and requests to your new domain are redirected. The new domain, say wibble.net, appears in the browser bar. For non-commercial use, this is cheap and easy.

www.register1.net do free domain hosting where they allow domain mapping as well (i.e. www.yoururl.com/thisfile.html would work), most places don't do this...

I'm with 123, and once you get the hang of the terminology (ie 'point domain name to...') it's quite easy. The proof of this is: even I can do it. There's web forwarding, which redirects people to a different URL, and e-mail forwarding, so you can be chairman@yourdomain but it actually goes to scumbag@hotmail... well you get the picture!

Free Web and Email forwarding, with email aliases, and web page translation (www.yourdomain.com/directory/file.jpg maps to http://users.ntlworld.com/~yourname/direcotry/file.jpg)
