Haynes for Capri 2.8i recommends Duckhams QXR, or any good 10/40. Probably semi-synthetic these days.
I don't think they're that fussy.

Back in those (olden) days I'd have put Castrol GTX in.

I think GTX was 20/50 wasn't it ?

In an older engine I reckon I'd use a thicker one too.

Ford recommended 20/40 or 20/50 to Ford spec SSM-2C 9001-AA in 1987, but of course I'm sure oil specs have moved on a bit since then.

This racing season I have been using Millers CSS 20/60 which superseded CSS 20/50 which I used for the 2008 / 09 seasons. This oil is very very good. When stripped down, my old V6 cologne engine is always in tip top condition even though it spends most of its life at 7000rpm! I can highly recommend it.

Leigh,
would you recommend millers for their classic gear oil too?

oooohhh.....lots and lots wink the limiter is actually set at 7500rpm to keep it "safe" but my engine god tells me it could rev to 8000rpm. Doubt I'll ever go there yikes
