My car came with new Gaz Golds but I'm not sure if GGs come as just dampers ? Though the springs look new, so I'm guessing they are a full spring and damper coilover set?

Either way, does anyone know what springs rates they come with? and if harder springs are available? I find them very soft and end up running the dampers quite hard to compensate which I don't really like.

Ideally I like slightly harder/firm springs and softer damper settings.

As a comparison, my S2000 ran 8kg/mm springs up front and 10kg/mm rear, my 200SX was 6kg/mm fr and 5kg/mm rr, both cars being around 100kg heavier cars, so I'd say 5-6kg/mm would be nice for the Cerbera?

Perfect timing for this question as I have a brand spanking new set of Gaz Gold Pro's here, they came direct from Gaz set up for a cerbera V8 4.2
On the front springs is 9-400, I can count 9 coils on the spring but not sure what the 400 reffers to.
On the rear springs is 9-350, as before.
You can change the springs if you need to, try calling Gaz direct 01268 724585 ask for Derek Gardner, very knowledgable on Cerbs, i'm sure he will recommend a set up for you and recommend a local supplier.
Good Luck
Martin

I run 500 fronts and 420 rears. This is a little over sprung on the back though but I need to change the adjustment range on my Protecs to suit (currently maxed out).

I'd say a 400 is probably best for the car for spirited driving. It is very dependant on what you use it for though. Full of luggage and fuel all the time you may want a little more. You only and 1/4 tank and doing hill climbs probably 350 is about right as it will give more compliance at the back.

That's what I've fitted to mine on recommendation from APM.

I run 400 and 500 lbs springs, I use cheap ones so I'm not too worried about having a play and swapping them about, got mine from Rally Design in Faversham, Kent. rallydesign.co.uk, if memory serves correctly.

Good luck

Hmmm.. spring rates in lb, I'm guessing they are lb/inch?

So just for comparison I guess converting to kg/mm (sorry, I'm metric!)

350lb = 6.2kg/mm
400lb = 7kg/mm
500lb = 9kg/mm

Hmmm.. my springs feel much much softer.. well, softer than what I would expect from 400/500lb springs at least

Yep, lb/in. 400lb/in springs should not feel soft.... smile

I run Gaz Gold on my Cerb.

Perfect for that Tertre Rouge 4 wheel drift I did at the Classic in July.

I hope Trevor and Peter were watching and smiling! I was!!

I added 3 clicks front and rear for the laps of Le Mans, but that is too hard on the road for me.

How many clicks do you have for road use?

Sorry for late reply.
Now you got me!!
I have to admit I don't rightly know as I kept adding/reducing clicks until it felt right.
By right, I mean comfortable but not bouncy.
So it's my feel, which might be totally wrong for someone else?
I also wound the springs up to give more ground clearance, as when fitted the lower wish bones were level. Great for the track I suppose, but not Surrey Roads!

It's with Austec at the moment for servicing and MOT, so I can't even pop out and check!

One thing I have noticed, also on other cars and bikes, is that ambient temperature affects the damping.
Not sure if other damper makes do it on a Cerb, but I do notice it on cold Gaz Gold dampers.
Particularly until it all warms up and settles down. Which is why at Le Mans in July (very hot) I needed three clicks, normally 1 click will make a noticeable difference when just at that critical point for my preference.
