Yesterday I went to view an E39. Was a lovely car in great condition. It had what I believe to be the OEM 6CD changer in the boot - in compartment behind the offside rear lights. There were CDs in the changer however when I changed the mode on the stereo to CD - it read 'No CD' or something similar.

Could there be a simple fix for this? If not, could a new changer 'slot in' and directly connect as the old OEM one would?

Thanks!

you can have mine off me for a little cash as I don't use it - the unit just requires the magazine that drops into it.

Thanks a lot!

I'm picking the car up tomorrow and if I can't get it to work will have someone take a look and see what - if anything - needs replacing.

Was there a full complement of six discs in the cassette? Worth checking.

(And, on a pedantic note - surely it's on the nearside?)

Yes - its on the nearside - apologies!

A few other niggles to iron out in the car - nothing major. Will have to go through them individually. Just trying to sort out opening the boot first!!

The changers start to play up as they get older. I went down the Intrave route.

Had a problem with the boot. All fixed now.

New question. When the radio is playing all speakers work. When a tape/ipod through tape is on - only one side of speakers. Any ideas?

1. you get the 'no disc' message when you simply have no discs in the magazine, it doesnt mean the unit is not working.

2. my airbag warning light occasionaly comes on too - its down to some wiring that comes loose under the drivers seat in my case!
