Many rumours are going round that a battery switch fitted on a speed 6 engined car can damage the electronics of the car. Is this true ?

Problem with wiring one in is that there are a number of 12v feeds coming off the +ve battery terminal and if you want a complete cut off all would need to be extended to the isolator switch. You could just fit it to the Starter lead which would prevent it starting and allow the Alarm/immobiliser to function, but if bump started it would mean the alternator wasn't connected to the batt and couldn't charge it. The diode bypass usually supplied with cutoff switches can fix that and prevent the alternator from burning out the rectifier/regulators when running open circuit (which is odd considering the troublesome 100amp fuse allows that to occur by design).

ok, the point is that all my cars are switched off the batteries when parked in my garage. I am doing this to prevent fire. I know some stories TVR's catching fire by just standing in the garage (with batterie switched on). So for a Grantura or later wedges, this is no problem. But now I have a Sagaris which is electricwise different than the older models.
I should say it is no problem for a Sagaris to cut off the complete power when parked in the garage.
But maybe I am wrong.

reason for fires is usually either the battery +ve touching the chassis or the anderson connecter shorting out (due to age they can fall apart, if not checked) .
A battery cut off could sort out the latter but not the former. better bet may be to ensure battery positive is covered and cant touch earth points and anderson connector is in fine fettle
