Hey!!
I have a Geep and I was wondering if anyone has done what I want to the back door. I have the one with the swing out door. My Dad wants me to lock altogether and not open it all, but i won' be able to get my bike through the window. SO. I want the door top drop downwards. Where it would be hinged at the bottom of the door. Can this work. Will it break things if I do it. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Robert
P.S. If your having problems ring Premier Wiring, I have found them Very V. V. helpful.

Hi Robert
My black 1600 4spd (now sold) had this arrangement. No hardtop but the tailgate hinged downwards on HD hinges as found on vintage lorries (!). Due to the weight of the tailgate, made of wood, the hinges were mounted on the outer face of the rear bumper so there was a sort of extended boot effect. Strangely- I kept those hinges when I replaced all that with a flat steel panel... I don't have any pics of the hinges in place. The f/g at the base of the tub is not really strong enough to support a hinge- it would probably need to mount on the inner face of the rear bumper or on the floor.
Cheers
