Hi,

Just a quick one Im looking for the boost pressure that a Standard Td04L turbo from a Subaru runs.

Been told 7psi and 0.7bar which are different biglaugh

Anybody know for sure ??

Thanks

Depends on the model year, but between 0.7 and 0.8 bar is normal.

7psi and you have a problem

Thanks, someone at work has now told me that the wastegate is 7-8psi as standard but the ECU controls boost to make it the standard 0.7-0.8 bar. But take that out and your left with 7psi...

Is this more likely???

Sounds about right, wastegate pressure on the GTB is about 7psi as I learnt when the MAP sensor failed.

Standard max boost for the TD04L from MY51-MY05 WRX is 13.6psi. Whether or not it actually gets there is another matter. Some slightly underboost and some overboost. The standard mapping though is virtually identical on all the newage WRX.

You could line up 10 identical WRX's from the same year and each one will give you different results.

The max boost you can squeeze from the TD04L is another matter and varies depending on setup/mods/remapping although it's safe to say 17-17.5psi is about safe peak. Any more than that it starts turning into a mini flamethrower unless you have some seriously good air cooling/meth-water injection system in place and on a normal setup you wouldn't go there unless you make some big changes.

I've never had to take a TD04L on your average WRX setup over 17psi to get best results.
