Bought a Fiesta ST yesterday privately but did not notice that the tax had ran out so now I cant drive it until I have it taxed frown I should get the MOT certificate tomorrow as the previous owner had it at work and had to post it but obviously I need to be able to drive as soon as possible for work and if I get it done at the post office I take it I will not be able to get the disc that day? So what can I do to get it legal to drive as soon as possible?
Have tried calling the DVLA but it is all just automated messages which are driving me crazy!

Any advice would be much appreciated

Why won't you be able to get the tax disc at the Post Office?
As long as you have the V5C, MOT and your Insurance certificate that should be fine. Never been a problem when I've done it. The V5C doesn't have to be in your name as it displays the 'registered keeper' not the 'legal owner' so shouldn't be an issue. If the relevant sections of the V5C are all filled in by the previous keeper and also you as the new keeper then they normaly tax the car and send the V5C to Swansea for you. Always have done for me anyway.
Have to ask though, If the previous owner had the MOT at work how did you get to view it before buying the car?
