I have an oil leak from my engine. I am pretty sure where it is coming from but want to get the engine cleaned to be sure.
What's the best way to do this?

I am concerned about steam cleaning it. Its an Audi 2.4 V6 and there are electrical connectors and wires everywhere.

Is it best to just wipe the effected area with a rag and petrol?

Just use a lot of Gunk engine cleaner and then a hosepipe to rinse it. Avoid using any high pressure. But if the engine can't suvive a rinse it certainly won't survive a drive in the wet.

Airosol brake cleaner shifts the st very well. Great for finding the exact location of the leak once you have narrowed it down a bit and it does not affect electrics as it's not water based.
