Just got back from a quickie surf trip to Croyde (wot no surf)

Seatbelts or lack of in Barnstable every other car no one is wearing one. I noticed one or two, then MrsSideways starts counting. Passed through the town & the count was 20 odd FFS

What the hell is up with people?, must say most vehicles sans belts were of the chav variety but crikey what an eye opener.

Plus I think there was a fatal on the A361 last night, guess what my bet would be.

It's not just Devon!

On Thursday, I was sitting in one of our local car parks (waiting for SWMBO to collect a prescription) with a good view of traffic as it stopped at a Pelican crossing.

In the space of 10 (or so) minutes I saw more then 12 cars where the driver was not wearing a seat-belt and over five with one or more front seat passengers sans belt.

Of the dozen drivers not wearing a seat-belt, 10 were women, two were also smoking and three were on the 'phone. I saw one woman drive out of the car-park without a seat-belt, talking on her cell-phone AND smoking a cigarette. I have no idea how she was steering, nor what the life-expectancy of her (about three years old) child would be! Nor whether a crash or passive smoking would kill the child first - Streaky

In all seriousness though, what harm is it doing anyone?

I get your point, but I suppose most people don't understand the laws of physics either. If they did I'm sure they might be a bit wiser.

My seatbelts have saved my life at least twice for sure. Fair enough if your experienced etc, but I was'nt at the time. Classic over enthusiastic young lad. The law saved my life & I am grateful for it.

I thought all the chavs would be definately wearing them - to show off their seatbelt pads or 4 point harnesses on their nova.

Ps. paper reported 17year old died in town centre not too far away last weekend. apparently was driving a red nova, and it happened at about pub chucking out time. Hmm i wonder how that happened. Shame that someone had to die of course.

No harm atall, untill the crash. Then, a great deal of harm potentialy to themselves and everyone else who will become involved, even those who's mere involvment is to be held up whilst someone clears up the mess.
I do not support many aspects of this nanny state, but, not wearing seatbelts and talking on mobile phones whilst driving should be endorseable offences, and rigourously enforce
