Stuck On GT5 Prologue

Guys Im new to GT5 so be gentle, for the life of me I cant get past Suzuka East in my Focus, best I get is 6th where I started from.

I cant be that bad a driver as i have monstered all the previous races but this is killing me

Traction is best at 6 IMHO - am I right, what settings or inded can I purchase more speed anywhere ?

I hate to sound like a GT snob but turn all the aids off if possible. I find the cars a lot easier to control and my times improve.

Yeah to be fair all aids off makes the cars better, you can push harder and wont be stopped by the computer. What id say to do is drive a race you can win then do it a few times to get enough money for a evo or something fairly fast, the gtr is one of the best and its fairly cheap, then you can come back to this race and win easily

I dont know if you can adjust other settings (I think not - but if yes drop ride head etc), but anyway, all assists off and really bully/push all the AI's off at the corners by going up the inside. Once past them they all drop back. first few corners are critical if you dont pass the first few cars its nigh on impossible.

I had a few goes last night on the one lap in the f40 round suzuka, highest i can get is 4th, still getting used to my new wheel chair combo tho.

I struggled with this, I usually make my cars as light as possible at the cost of power, it didnt work with the F40 as I found it uncontrollable at its lightest setting, Im sure I made the F40 as powerful as possible whilst making it heavier. I hate the F40 on there for some reason?

Having just ticked off the last two races in the S championship, I found that by dedicating time on Arcade mode properly dialling in the car/ learning the track pays massive dividends...

I went from finishing very poorly on the two Suzuka races to winning them fairly comfortably.
