Try Manning UK: gyles_haigh-austin@manninguk.com. They used to be the TVRCC approved insurer.

I'm with RH Specialist Insurance, they came up with the best deal for me including UK and European breakdown and recovery.

But this can be a "bit of a minefield", when Heritage withdrew from insureing post 1980 TVR's a lot of owners were left looking for new insurers. Someone who I think is roughly my age and lives in a similar risk area posted on here a very good price from "XYZ" insurance, I phoned them and price was highest I'd had from half a dozen quotes !

My advice would be get a Classic Car type magazine, there will be loads of adverts in the back pages, and try them all.

Try MSM - great to deal with, cheapest premium (for me) and flexible with mileage limits etc.

I ended up doing an Admiral Multi-Car policy as I had my Audi A4 with them already. They bettered anyone else I could find on a 98 Chim 500 with the wife on, too. Fully Comp and I paid about £320 for the Chim part of the deal I think.

I'm with Classicline.
I had to declare a few mods - naughty cam - power steering - uprated brakes - plus my health issues which I won't discuss on here but it was still only £200.

I went with Carole Nash, I couldn't say if they were the cheapest as they were the only ones I called. However, I remember Hagerty used to charge me about £200 for my old S as a second car and Carole Nash came in at £250 with European Breakdown etc.

I took the easy option as I remember how much of a headache the ringing around was for my daily driver. And I figured that half a day of frustration on a Saturday afternoon just wasn't worth the potentially poor service, hold music, pre-recorded menus and being passed from department to department, phone for the slim chance that I'd save £40 or £50.

They were highly efficient and pleasant to deal with.

Thanks for all the responses - best so far is under £140 for fully comprehensive 3000miles plus commuting and only a £50xs oh and another key factor my age 39. This quote is a £20 cheaper than last year so think I may go for it. Is this in the parish or should I continue to negotiate for a better deal? Original firm have offered to waive arrangemenet fee and now quoting £144 with no need to re submit pics of car for fixed valuation etc so easy to arrange. All advice appreciated.

IMHO both of those are CHEAP!! I am a year older than you - also live in the country (edge of Dartmoor) have a 2000 mile policy without commuting, garaged (although this made no difference to the premium with the company I went with - this was the main reason for choosing them as I don't need to put it away every time I park on the drive) and couldn't get mine below £260 in May following Hegarty leaving the market.

Before anyone says it I rang all those on Norm's list above and also a few more. I do however have one fault accident in July 2009 although that is the only one in 23 years of driving. Interesting the statement on multi-car as well as two years ago (before the accident) when I tried to follow that route Admiral wanted £790 to add the S3 to a policy for 9 months yikes They quoted each car at the start of the policy for the date they would come on and without S it was some £500 for the year for 2 cars - add the S3 and it went to over £1300. nono

My moto with insurance is there seems to be no rhyme nor reason to their classic car quotes just luck of the draw when you phone them, whereas daily drivers seem to be quite regimented - maybe the moneysupermarket and gocompare sites keep them straight scratchchin

Just out of interest, all these "bargain" prices being quoted, are they for garaged overnight, and do they include UK / European breakdown recovery etc.scratchchin ?

I guess we all like to shout out when we've got a bargain but unless comparing something like " like for like" they really don't mean an awful lot.
