Changing fanbelt on a pre-serp

Having trouble with lack or clearance between the crank pulley and the removeable chassis crossmember, anyone else had problems?

It's a bit tight IIRC, but belt should squeeze past. I could easily believe a few coats of paint on the member, engine mount situation... might make it very marginal?

If you have to remove the Crossmember, the bolts are metric BTW (M10 OTOMH) so easy to replace los etc. & the bolts seem to occasionally shear on removal.

Not sure it was a lot of help John, apart from confirmation that they are a bit tight to ease in/past normally.

Thanks Simon, I have been an idiot again, [whats new!] I managed to get it on ok by putting the lip of the crank pulley in the bottom of the tooth cutout in the belt and sliding it sideways, no worries, cheers, John.
