How long have you got? A weekend, a few days or 2 weeks?

I was in the same position earlier this year (albeit with a smaller budget), and ended up on the Petrolhead Nirvana / PH Highland tour.

I had a fantastic time, met some great people, and the roads of Scotland are like nothing I'd ever seen before.

Edit - now that I've read the first post properly, perhaps a tour of Scotland might be a bit too close to home. Other tours are available - the Alpine one in particular sounds like fun.

Take the Porsche into Germany, go to the Ring and the Porsche museum/factory if you want. Then drive south through the Alps to Monaco in time for the F1 GP, staying in lovely hotels on the way. Enjoy the GP, then drive west along the south coast of France into the Pyrennes and get a ferry back to the UK from Bilbao/Santander.

Might take a bit more than a week and won't be cheap but would be a fanatastic trip.

Get the best tickets you can find/afford for the Monaco Historic GP. Fly to Nice, helicopter transfer in to town. Try not to wince about the cost of EVERYTHING: that's what God gave us credit cards for. You're only 40 once in your life.

Yep: Do the Monaco GP - Did it in 1992 (Senna/Mansell battle), everybody remembers that race!!

I'll never forget it.

Highly recommend that trip ah the noise, smell, atmosphere!!

Spooky - I'm 40 next April, stay nr Glasgow and have been thinking of doing a similar thing!

I'm planning on going to the Monaco GP as I've fancied going for ages and should be special enough to be memorable.

Le Mans is a good shout too but went a few years back and for me the drive there & back was a major part of it so it wouldn't have the same appeal if you weren't planning on driving.

What about that Ascari resort - think it was in southern France or Spain? Might be wrong though!!

I have no idea how expensive it would be or what you get, so probably not much help, but could be an idea?

This. I did this for my 30th (well, not with a Porka wink) and it was great. I took 2 weeks off, but we did the above within the first week there and we just mooched from town to town. Things to do along the way include:

Luxembourg - great place to spend a couple of hours and stop overnight - it's got some really beautiful bits hanging over cliffs. And the fuel is some of the cheapest in Europe which you can then use on the autobahns.
Heidelburg - Medieval town with picturesque ruined castle.
Rothenburg - Medieval town.
Bamburg - Medieval town with more breweries per capita than anywhere else in Germany (so probably the world, excepting Belgium). The world centre of smoked beer (rauchbier) which is the perfect accompaniment to any sort of pork product.
Rhine Valley - Take a river cruise and drink lot's of wine.
Nurburgring - Drive your own Pork or rent something. It's a petrolhead capital with a great vibe around town.
Stuttgart - Porsche museum was really quite good and there's also a palace outside town called Ludwigsburg that was quite nice.
