I've got an absolute st load of dead conifers, old timber from a house renovation etc...
Anyway, it's all been left in a pile on my field for several years so will be quite wet.

What's the best way to stack it and get it burning?
Gallon of petrol?
Hay bale?

Any ideas much appreciated. smile

We found that out at work when we thought rather than remove some brambles by hand, we'll douse in petrol and burn it.

Quite impressive really!

used engine oil and some oil soaked rags. Diesel burns off too quick, petrol goes "woof" then dies out - oily rags go up easy, burn for ages, the oil soaks into the wood... you can start ANY fire with used engine oil smile

Well, at first it didn't like so as one person approached, the vapours ignited. As he jumped back the fireball ignited the vapours coming off the petrol can increasing the ferocity and the windows of the nearby office rattled.

Excellent fun and it cleared the brambles!

Well remember a fire needs air. So the best way to stack it is so that air can get in to the center.

Scale this up. whatever is going to get it going in the middle, then the longer thicker wood stacked around it getting smaller towards the top.

You can use petrol, just dump it on and light.
The video above happened because they were pissing about too long and the vapour from the petrol built up.
Hence the explosion.

Please note, I said can. I didn't say YOU should.

Edit:Oh, and don't use 8 litres odd like they did. Use a bit.
