What Paint is used on Inner Wings?

Hi,

I am renewing the heat shielding on my inner wings and want to also patch up the existing black paint in the engine bay. This paint looks to be different to normal spray paint, it looks similar to what is applied to the wheel arches.

Can anyone tell me what this stuff is and where I can get it please?

I don’t know for sure what it is, but I us a satin black stove/boiler paint from B&Q.

Interesting. My inner wings are painted same colour as bodywork (ocean haze)

lower down inside inner wings are satin black,, Just buy a can out of HALFORDS

Yes - plain old satin black for mine which I have just completed last weekend strangly enough.

Update on the previous - I have now started to paint the inner wings with Halfords Satin Black High Temp Engine paint. Its covering really quite well and I have also used a small foam paint roller to re-create the look of the original finished texture.

Thanks once again for the advice on the choice of paint - I'm really happy with the way its turning out. Ive attached a couple of photos showing what Ive been up to. I decided that while the engine was out that I would tidy up the engine bay. So Ive removed most of 10 years of waxoyl from the chassis and decided to replace the heat shield which was starting to fall apart. After the fun job of drilling out all the heat shield rivets I decided to fibreglass over the larger holes so that I could re-drill them and get the rivet to fit snugly in the hole. I also patched up some of the places on the inner wings with new glass fibre where it was starting to delaminate a bit.

The photo of the bare inner wing shows the new glass fibre in red. The other two show the first coat of paint on the inner wing. I want to get another couple of coats on it before its finished.
