My set up was - TV, Xbox 360, PS3 (run through a Yam 7.1 amp)

Anyway - never used the PS3 for games, only bluray/dvd or streaming via DNLA off my NAS box.......but it would get too hot and the fan was very loud.

Alternative was to use the 360 which did DVD and DNLA but the fan was still quite loud.

So...bought a Panny Bluray with DNLA and stuck the PS3 in the kids room.....but the Panny can see my DNLA NAS box files but wont play them (oddly it plays some camcorder films i have on their but wont play things via bit torrent downloads?????

Is their a fix to that or is the PS3/360 really a lot better and this than a £200 Panny?

What file formats and codecs does your new Panny box play?

I think you'll find you'll need to do some file conversion as it's probably more limited than the PS3.

TBH I find the PS3 perfect. I know what you mean about the fan, although my PS3 is underneath the stairs in the hall cupboard with all my other AV kit so doesn't affect me.

first, check what file type your torrent is, then check your manual to see what is accepted.

Depending on file type, try something like MKV 2 VOB or Handbrake

Having to convert file formats, re-sync audio, remove subtitles etc etc .. was why I spent £300 and built myself a Media Centre PC and stuck Windows 7 on it. It even has a blue-ray drive though is rarely used.

I no longer have to spend 3 hours trying to get a movie to play, there is no fan noise, no stuttering and I can look at bigboobs.com on the 40" Sony smile

seems it will pretty much only play mpg2 - £200 waste of money. Would have been better buying a £199 fan to blow at the PS3.
