Shall I SORN Grizzly over the winter months or not?

Tax on Grizzly expired over the weekend and I'm in two minds whether or not to tax it or SORN it until the spring. It's only £205 (bargain ) but then again I've also got the Aston to use. Last winter I went to Goodwood Breakfast and Brooklands in the Aston and the Griff didn't come out until April. Decisions decisisons...

I'll be sorning mine after end of November until probably April.
I've got plenty of work to do over winter and better the tax money is in my pocket than wasted on the current brain dead incumbents of the houses of parliament.

Insurance runs until end of February 2011. Mannings allow me to put it on "laid-up" cover and give me an allowance of 75% of the unused months towards next years premium. Seems OK.

I SORN my Griff every winter (Nov-Mar typically) and Mannings do the honours as well . I also put it up on axle stands to prevent flat spotting the tyres. I don't want the temptation to take it out on one of those nice dry sunny cold days as the roads will have been salted and it will get around the chassis. (I saw the gritters a week or so ago when we had a decent frost .)

Decision made chaps, it's SORN'ed until the end of February now. MOT falls due on 1st March so that's when I'll tax it again.

Don't need to tax it to take for MOT if you want to drag it out till April.

I cant believe so many are prepared to miss some of the best driving days of the year? I've always enjoyed driving a griff in the winter,roof off and well wrapped up on a beautifully clear,crisp and frosty winter morning is heaven Much less traffic on the roads is another bonus too.Drive it!!

Yep totally agree which is why I spec'd heated seats as an option when I bought it. This is the first winter I've not had the Griff taxed for 11 years so I don't feel too guilty but with the Aston and my wife's Porsche too I just decided that I'd get the wheels off, get it up on stands and do some work on it this winter. No point in wasting money taxing it.

Every year the tax is up for renewal in october,and every year i wonder if its not worth it and so lay the car up over winter,but i do because i know that even if i only take it out the once,its money well spent (one boxing day drive in the cold crisp air was certainly worth it )

I'll be sorning Wol for the first time this year, but as we've got the Scorp to have fun with on those clear winter days, I'm not too worried.

Be an excuse to get the flying jackets out.

Posed in it at the pub just last night as it happens

I have no heater in the Griff because I have a leaky heater matrix. So until that is fixed it really is just too cold, even with an inside-out sheep wrapped around me.
Might leave it another month though, just in case, at least until the st spreaders come out again.
