High mileage RX8's

I'm thinking about getting an RX8 and notice alot of the 04/05 plate ones are racing up to 80K+ miles. now has anyone got experience of these at this kind of mileage, how does the renesis live with it, gearbox etc?

There are a couple of cars on the RX8 owners club forum with this sort of mileage.

To be honest you should stay clear and get a car with a full Mazda SH and low miles. Coils go at around 30K and need replacing. Mine went at 35K the day I sold it. Luckily it just needed coils and plugs but it can take the CAT out too.

Try and pay a little more and get it from a dealer because a lot of warranty companies wont honour certain components that are known to fail.

Its a buyers market so look at as many as possible.

High mileage, I'd suggest buying an RX8 shell and a large box of random engine parts to pour into the engine bay as that's what you will have in a reasonably short space of time. A shame as they are lovely things but that engine is not built to last (or cheap to rebuild when it lets go)
