November Competition Entries - Creative Spark

This month's competition is called 'Creative Spark'. This is all about creative uses of camera's AND/OR software to produce stunning photos. The photos themselves can be of any subject, its up to you to produce something special from them in the manner of your choosing. And for those of you who do not have Photoshop like me there are plenty of ways of using a camera to produce 'special effects' - star trails, black and white, light painting, multiple exposures - the sky is the limit with this one. Just one thing though - cleverness is nothing if it doesn't suit the subject and so I will judge on artistic merit as much as photographic expertise. Good luck to you all. Mark.

My entry....
This image was taken of a fire dancer at a friends wedding in Ibiza. It is a raw, untouched image, taken with a 400D with the flash turned off (technical, huh?).

I've not been in this part of PH for ages and ages. I'm glad I popped in now!



Taken a few years ago. I just set the camera up to a sensible aperture to keep some depth and a long shutter (2 or 3 seconds IIRC) I never looked through the eye piece. I just held it at waist height and took about a dozen or so shots. And this one popped out.

One of mine from Rally GB on Saturday, I was set for shooting in the bright stages, was just coming through the woods when I heard this Escort coming and grabbed a shot without changing the settings which gave me 1/3 second at f5.6 ISO 200 on a Canon 1D Mk2 with 70-200 F4 IS L and 1.4 Extender Mk2.

Had a go at doing fire poi photography last year with one of my friends who thought he was pretty good at it. Within 5 minutes he had set fire to his hoodie and hit himself in the groin. Love your shot though. Don't they have a Festival of Fire in Belgium? That would be brilliant for doing a bit of photography.
