Basically I need the lot as SWMBO threw everything out when we moved house.

Are there any good packs or is it cheaper to buy good quality bits separately? anyone recommend a particularly good brand?... First person to suggest any thing from halfrauds gets a poke in the eye.

Have a look here:

They seem to have lots of options - Poorboys is generally well regarded.

I'd buy separately.

Your essentials are 2 buckets, grit guard, microfibre drying towel, microfibre cloths, shampoo, all purpose cleaner, selection of brushes for wheels, tyres and arches, and a wax or sealant.

If you want to get a bit more serious you can get a proper wheel cleaner, degreaser, metal polish, wheel sealant, clay, lubricant, and quick detailer.

Let me know if you want brand/product recommendations, but don't knock a lot of the autoglym stuff you can get Halfords smile

have you seen the guy on bbc3's 'freak like me'? has a white pug, and spends hours washing his car daily, before and after going to work *gasp* has his own little box in the back garden with £10k worth of products.

Claying is definitely worth doing to get the paint really clean before waxing.

How about this with the 3M shampoo for £31.30 (lambswool mitt and towel better than sponge and chamois in terms of not scratching the paint):

Plus this clay bar kit for £14.95

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/meguiars-q...

Finished off with this for £13.95

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/poorboys-e...

Applied with this for £2.95

Only just over £60 biggrin

I'd leave both of those on the shelf in favour of a sheepskin mitt and a couple of microfibre towels, which won't cost much more.

I'm not sure why Halfords deserves a poke in the eye when they sell a fair chunk of essentials like mits, buckets, towels, micro fibres and applicators, & they sell Megs & Autoglym fluids & clays.
Meguires is good stuff I use it a lot

Meguiars is pretty good. I would also look into Adam's polishes.

http://www.adamspolishes.com/

The products are extremely high quality, easy to use and the guy has a nice video tutorial on how to use each of them correctly. plus, their customer service is top notch as well.

I tend to use Meguiars and buy my stuff from these people

You can buy BIG bottles like this that will work out cheaper than buying the small bottles
