Squeaky brakes
Discussion
This is my first foray into Pedal Powered, please be gentle!
I've just dusted off my trusty Marin Pine Mountain as we're off to Center Parcs this weekend and damned if I'm paying £50 to hire a knackered bike that weighs more than I do. However the brakes (Deore DX) are squeaking like buggery. First thought is to change the blocks and clean the rims with brake cleaner.
Any other suggestions?
TIA.

Make sure the brake blocks are slightly toe-in at the front, if they are not (flat on or back end first) then they will grab and then judder (probably inperceptible) causing the squeal.
Cleaning the rims will improve the braking but if the blocks aren't setup right will make the squealing worse, if you have some cleaner around fine, meths will do the same job.
