Last night I decided to pop out to get some fuel and on the way back some scrote in a car coming the other way threw something at me which bounced off my bonnet and flew over the car. I’m pretty sure of this because there was no car in front of me, no trees overhead, and the dull thud occurred at the same time as the car coming the other way. It was dark however so I can’t be 100% sure.

Initially I thought it was just something flicking up on the inside of the wheel arch but when I got home my fears where confirmed in the garage. I have a small dent and scratch (gold ball like) on the leading edge of my bonnet which is really annoying as the rest of my car is in excellent condition.

I’m looking at getting this repaired, but was wondering if anyone could recommend someone in the Bedfordshire area. I’ve seen a “Paint and Dent Wizard” (www.paintanddentwizard.co.uk ) orange van locally and was thinking of using him. If I go to the body shop I fear they will have to repaint the entire bonnet so was looking for a cheaper fix although of course a reliable one…

Also - can anyone advise whether or not i should get the dent seen to sooner or later due to metal memory?

The car is a metallic blue Nissan 200sx s14a.

Thanks,

CampDavid

There's a chip wizards in Bedford, looks quite good, though a mate used them and they seemed quite pricey.

I followed it once, guy driving it looked about 17. Couldn't believe that someone so young could get insured on it so I took a picture on my iPhone and looked it up on askMID, assumed it must be a non-turbo or something, which I didn't think they'd make. Who'd insure a 17 year old on a 200sx? Looking back through old files I've actually found the photo - girl in car looks tasty.

Weird. I kept up with it fairly easily, the guy driving was nailing it on the straights but I was carrying more speed through the corners. Good hoon (I was in a Vectra)

Christ there's some weirdo's about then. Well that 17 yr old must have been me (who in fact is 10 yrs> than your estimate I'm glad to say) and the girl who happens to be my wife is tasty!

I don't recall a spirted drive with a vectra? When/where?

B660 I think. I was in a Vectra DSI, 51 plate.

You just didn't seem to comfortable with the car, throttle seemed a little binary and you were braking to really low speeds for the corners, hence I kind of thought "new driver." Either that or some kind of throttle cable or car issue?

Well as i don't race on public roads and the fact that I don't recall it, I'd say that I wasn't trying very hard.

The B660 is a great road though.

Either that or I'm trying to bait the OP because he hasn't replied to the message I sent him on Facebook at the weekend regarding a popular type of British sports car both our Dad's have an interest in and he hasn't replied! my baiting has been unsuccessful.

It's a slow day at the office

pb63 - I'll give you a proper answer later. My sisters car has just come back from a body shop near Bedford and apparently they're superb and very reasonably priced. Just sent an sms to find out the name

(to clarify, I've known the OP for 15 years. He just hasn't worked out who I was)

smile
