sylva striker seats
Discussion
Hi
Just purchased a striker and a bit nieve at the mo so any help would be appreciated as i am just starting out.
Can anyone tell me what seats fit in a striker - i currently have the fibre glass ones and i may want to change - dont look the most comfortable to me if i was going on a decent drive.
Also what is the best way to fit them - can they be put on runners etc?
thanks

People keep saying this just because a seat is made out of hard grp or carbon fibre. I'd suggest you take a drive and see how you get on. I've had so many cars and other than the Lotus I can honestly say the most comfortable seats I've used have been both GRP and Carbon Fibre ones. Try before you buy, seats are for sitting in not looking at. You might save yourself some money

Depends on the seats and the runners but usually it's pretty simple. Or you can try it for size lose in the garage and decide where you think is right and just fix them as you hardly ever move the seat unless your gf is going to drive it too. Somehow I forgot to do that on my Ginetta
The Deronda was fixed but we had to put runners on in the end so people could test drive it. Often when you build a car yourself there's also the possibility of locating the pedals where YOU want them too

I have GRP seats n my Phoenix (same as Striker chassis) and do 3,000 miles in 10 days to Alps and back in 10 days no problems. Some light padding looks good but does not seem to make much difference comfort wise. I find them comfy and do not move about, so maybe just go for a drive and find out.

Im just in the process of rebuilding a Striker, if i can be any help to you please five me a shout. Im building mine for trackdays with a full roll cage and a supercharged MX5 engine, its all Furyblade lees fault
thank you all.
there is a few jobs need doing to the car as i want it as a road car so any help and advice would be most welcome as this is my first kit car.
For info the jobs i need to do - are wire lights in (all the engine loom still attached from the bike and the controls off the handle bars are there too)
Need to install a choke into dash etc
Need to get a speedo working.
Going to buy 4 point harnesses and fit them but that looks simple even for me.
any advice on any of these points would be good.
thanks

Not entirely sure how you mean by road car as such. If it's just for the occasional Sunday drive then no real issues at all but if it's a regular drive then I'd not bother with the 4 point harness as they can a awkward to put on. If you're running round a track then yeah you don't mind gathering up all the ends and adjusting them each time you get in. But if you're hopping in the car and nipping about town in and out of various car parks etc they get tiresome. Also not easy to turn round to reverse and do tight slow manoeuvres Not really practical for everyday road car use. In everyday use you wear different clothes and jackets are a pain in the neck in a 4 point harness.Basically they can be as irritating as a big bunch of keys in the dark and wet when you want to get in the front door of your house with armfuls of shopping.

Well padded behind perchance
The Striker (and therefore the Phoenix) have one of the narrowest seating area of virtually any kitcar. Tillett made a special seat for my Phoenix (the B3.5) and I have done several non stop trips of 200 miles plus (longest being 280 miles) in the seat which has no padding. While I'm more "well padded" than Lee is I don't think this is a factor. Everyone who sees my seats think they will be uncomfortable but everyone who tries them is amazed how comfortable they are.

If you have an electronic sensor in the gearbox then unless your gearing is identical to that on the bike (unlikely to an almost infinite degree
)) any speed reading will be inaccurate, I know speedo healers are available, don't know if they do one for the ZX9, your simplest option might be to go for a digital speedo/dash. Acewell 3100 would do the job for les than £90 including all sensors etc.

The cockpit narrows as it goes forwards (and it's pretty narrow anyway), so as you try to move a seat forward it gets stuck on the tunnel / side of car.
I looked at fitting GRP seats on runners last year so the OH could drive the car. Gave up in the end for that reason and she continues to use a big foam cushion to get her close enough to the pedals to drive
