I'm into sailing, and I'm into cycling. So I'm loving this!



Basically, it's using pedal power to drive winches on a huge racing trimaran. The more usual (for top level raceboats) "coffee grinder" pedestal, using arm power, is behend it.

Problem is, looks like it might be against the rules!

What the heck is the "wheel" for?? is it just to add a "smoothing" inertia to the system?? (looks like it's tall geared !)

I'd go with the flywheel idea.

You can see it here in an earlier form, 2:15 or something in, it's clearly not a smooth pedal.
