focus RS mk2 production numbers
Discussion
Hi,
Just curious, does anyone know how many units of the current RS are going to be produced? I'm just wondering how second hand values will compare to the mk1 which are still holding up well 8 or so years on. Guessing if they keep production numbers limited it will help future values.
According to wikipedia 2147 mk1's were sold in the UK so is it going to be similar with the mk2?
Thanks,
Adam

There a a lot more mk2's than mk1's Ford needed to make money on the later car after being bitten by the first dont quote me but i believe production numbers were around the 9000 mark with at least half over here i expect.Just curious, does anyone know how many units of the current RS are going to be produced? The numbers are approx, 8000 UK cars & 4000 for rest of Europe + 500 RS500's, 101 came to UK with only 2 having red leather & approx 15 press release & 'VIP' RS500's.

Thanks guys, just what i wanted to know! I know RS models hold their value well but with nearly 4x the amount of mk2's in the uk than the original, I can't see them holding up quite as well as the original 5-10 years down the line. I absolutly love them and it's the only new car on the market at the moment I'd actually want to own but I do see a lot of them about.

Well production stopped a couple of months ago, last i heard there were approx 300 left in showrooms to be sold, so if you want brand new, be quick & just have to get what you can find on spec as very few left with Lux2 & all the toys, most being base spec left! I use mine daily and rarely see any about on my weekly tramp up and down the A14. The reason you might see a loads around is because they are bloody good cars and you cannot get anything which gives you all the thrills, the involvment, the practicality, and the running costs for any money, so they should retain their value longer term. I think they may dip a bit for a while but longer term 8-9000 cars in not very many....are there about 30 million cars on the road?
There are plenty of badge snobs out there, but I have not met anyone who has not had anything other than praise and genuine interest in the car, so there is definately demand.
