OK, so tonight I was lucky enough to be invited to the Chelsea Champions League game (I am a Blue) with Ford Motor Company.

Imagine my surprise when I learned that the other guest was none other than Wheeler Dealer legend Mike Brewer. In my time I have stated that it is Ed that does the work and Mike just takes the glory (I still think that is true) but I now know that Mike is a genuine petrol head.

Chatting with him I learned that he does care about the cars they look after, and that he really does want them to live on. In fact, after a few chats I would be more than happy to buy a car from him and he knows that when he transmits an episode about TVR's he is fully aware that the eyes of PH are upon him. You may be surprised to know that interested parties who call usually reach Mike directly.

After an evening of brief conversation, I have to say that Mike is a true PHer and is only interested in the cars living on, I did get an insight into the next series but I promised I wouldn't tell.....needless to say that I will stand by that, but he is a true car enthusiast and I thank him for that.

Always nice to hear. I watched the FRontline Battle Machines thing on Discovery last night, thinking it'll be Mike Brewer annoying the feck out of some troops, but hats off to the guy he presented it well. He doesn't know much about it all and is there to learn, like you or I would be. But the good thing is that he doesn't try to prentend he knows something he doesn't, so he conveys everything straight to the novice viewer as if you were there yourself, if that makes sense. It's good viewing!

He'll only be a true petrolhead when he does a program dedicated to the Citroen BX as far as I'm concerned though. That's the benchmark of any true TV based motoring enthusiast, and you all know it.

It just seems to be the done thing to criticise any automotive journalist, especially when they get on TV.

I think by the choice of their subject, that makes them genuine petrol heads

He mentioned his time on the front-line and it sounded truly terrifying!

I've always liked Mike, he's larger-than-life and a personality. He was taking rounds in the stan in that chinook and came across as a genuine guy.

I've been saying it too. So, if you are reading can we make a list of what cars we'd like to see?

I know someone that works on the show that fixes the cars with Ed, next season should be a little more interesting!

I've always thought of him as a likeable, cheeky-chappy type person. I've read on here before, people calling him allsorts. I'm glad he's as decent as he seems on TV and that he is a true petrolhead.
Off topic a bit, Richard Hammond gets the same stick on here but, I know someone that's met him twice and he too was a chatty, friendly, genuine petrolhead. The same person also met Clarkson. He wasn't very chatty at all. Pretty much what you'd expect I suppose.

i like brewer, always have. I now prefer wheeler dealers to top gear and i really like top gear. Just by watching WD you can tell he is a petrol head, just maybe not that mechanically minded

Seriously, it's more a confirmation of what I thought he would be like. If he is undercover on here, I'd be asking what you "thought that you knew"?

I wondered why you and wheeler dealer on facebook posted near identical pictures of the football pitch.

Always seemed like a decent petrol-head chap to me.

While Brewer may well love cars, he doesn't love them any where near as much as he loves himself. He is one of the most egotistical cocks I have ever met.

Nice to know. The many posts decrying someone who was an obvious 'pistonhead' seemed counterproductive to me.

What I'd like to know is how many of the 'naysayers'ate all the pies as well biggrin

It is possible to be a petrolhead and a giant nozzle at the same time.

Mike firmly supports help for heroes, he may have the odd misgiving but he makes up for this with his support for the boys and girls ............
