Hi guys didnt really want to start on of these "whats the best car for...." threads but im in a bit of a pickle.

I currently have a 335d M sport coupe and am thinking about changing but dont know what too.

My partner is due another baby in Jan so my idea of a 996 turbo has gone right out of the window! Ive looked at BMW M cars (M5/M6) but maintenece costs are dreadful so was wanting to throw it out there to see what you folks are thinking before i end up buying a Range Rover or somthing.

I think if i were going down the E55/E63 route I'd go for an m6 or M5, I used to have Mercs and found them a bit lacking compared to the BMW's

Well the next tier down from Ms and AMGs is things like the VXR8, MG ZT V8 (assuming you mean second hand), and the larger engined non-M BMWs, etc.

Yes, that really is such a pickle. I'm amazed you can even sleep at night hehe

How big a car do you need/want for a baby? And what's wrong with the 335d?

Just somthing practicle, pram car seats etc...so that rules out the 911 frown

The 335d is great just maybe felt its time for a change...I nearly bought an m6 a few weeks back but decided against.

I might have missed it, but what sort of budget are you looking at?

Also are running costs and issue? So far you've said practical and reliable. But they are a little vague tbh.

What do you want the car to achieve? As in are you after speed, power, handling, performance, thrills, looks, image, perceived image, space, comfort, size, load space, number of doors, number of seats?

So without knowing answers to any of that... some cars I like that I believe could be used as interesting/fun/different or nice family vehicles.

-Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8
-Porsche Cayanne Turbo (S)
-Dodge Charger R/T or SRT-8
-Jaguar XJR
-Jaguar XF (R)
-Toyota FJ Cruiser
-Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
-Discovery 3/4
-Defender 110
-Vauxhall VXR8
-Vauxhall Insignia VXR
-Ford Mustang GT 5.0
-BMW M3 e92
-Dodge Ram 1500 Quad cab
-Nissan Juke
-Skoda Yeti
-Freelander 2 petrol

confused I fail to see how many of those could be classed as a "performance car".

So do I somewhat, although many are quick...

But lets be fair, the thread title hardly does justice to what the OP has since asked for.

And I suppose technically, all the vehicles I listed are a high performance variant of some kind, just depends how you rank performance, e.g. a Wrangler or Defender are by far and away the best performing (as in higher capabilities and performance) off road than most other vehicles.

Speed/pace are only one way of assessing performance. smile

And now you've wasted my time reading your reply, which means I'm about to waste someone else's time reading this reply and if they decide to reply to this they will be wasting their time and anyone else who has decided to read the reply and then reply to the reply has wasted their time as well.
