Morning

Planning on going to North Wales (7 miles from Porthmadog off the A487) and just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to do during next weekend?

Had a quick search, and looks like the roads around Snowdonia are pretty special, not sure my dog will appreciate that smile

Going to be a relaxing break with my Mrs for 3 nights, but we would like some suggestions on what to do & see, such as local towns, good pubs, beaches etc..

Any help much appreciated

Cheers!
James

There's a nice cart track at Glasfryn Parc on the A499 at Four Crosses. There are plenty of nice beaches such as Black Rock in Porthmadog and Criccieth Beach where you can also visit the castle.

Portmeirion is just down the road and worth a visit. Harlech is quite nice too.

Check North Wales isn't closed. Lock up when you leave. wink
Stick to the main towns at night, CCTV is your friend.
It tends to be very dead out of season.

You could meet the 911UK members doing the Evo Triangle on Sunday and taking their repast at the Groes Inn

I hope this a joke that has passed me by, or our experience of North wales are vastly different!

It's been a long time since I've been there. Going to uni in Bangor for 3 years in the late 70s was enough for me. However, it was only in 2005 or 6 that I did an Easter tour of round Harlech, Porthmadog and Llangollen in the Z06 and it was as dead as a very dead thing (though possibly outside of the school holiday week). I also spent a few dismal weeks in Bangor in the 90s (in a different Corvette). Maybe the exciting parts passed me by.

Oh, I agree it's quiet, but rarely scary - unless old people are stealing cars now, i doubt you have much to worry crime wise.
I'm regularly off to llandudno and bangor, and find both to be really relaxed and friendly, with no trouble. I'd originally read your post as if you were insinuating it's like Bagdhad or something =)

No, quite the opposite although some of the outlying villages can be a bit insular and rely on alcohol for entertainment... wink
