Positive Experiences
Discussion
In the interest of a balanced view - what about a thread on positive dealer experiences.
We can all get a bit stuck on the negative side of our dealings in life so I though I might offer a thread up to balance the views.
My biggest was my local Volvo dealer who hand on heart fought Volvo all the way to resolve a injector problem on my previous V70. The dealer I bought the car from washed hands of it, but the local dealer kept pushing until in the end Volvo replaced all of them - which solved the problem.
It was a long saga (read two months) which once they got a hold of was closed down within a week, they gave me a car whilst it was ongoing and kept me informed all the way.
As a result I bought my new car from them two weeks ago and can't recommend them highly enough.
Anyone else got good experiences - and apologies if this has been done before.

Buying my mum's Passat through a broker.
They got a VW dealer to ring me with a brilliant price.
Paid a deposit and was on the phone for maybe 3 minutes.
Got a letter 2 months later with details of money/no. plate/number to ring for 7 days ins.
Car turned up 7 days later as arranged with a very nice delivery man who told me he knew nothing about the car but it looked very pretty and where would i like it parked?
Dealer phoned up the next day to make sure I was happy with the car. Job done.
Total time spent in dealership. Nil
Time on phone with dealer. Prob 15 mins total.
Price. Fantastic, local dealer coundn't even come close.
Time spent being lied to/fed crap tea/playing 'i'll check with the manager' games etc etc. NONE.
Honestly the next time you buy a new car try a broker, you won't want to go into a dealership again!

Local Ford dealer. Went in looking for a family car though didn't think I'd be able to stretch to a Mondeo.
I was offered a stock brand new, unregistered Mondeo 2.0 Edge for £12000 (had a choice of 2 Zetec diesels for about £1000 more). They gave us £5600 p/x for a scuffed 2005 Mazda 5 (which we'd been offered far less for elsewhere against far more expensive cars) PLUS they gave me £2000 for a £400 Mondeo under the scrappage scheme. The deal was set out clearly and without any need to haggle.
They spoilt it a bit by taxing the car (£400 initial VEL) on the 29th of the month but hey....
Another local Ford dealer was rubbish by comparison - kept us waiting, kept having to refer to his superior, completely failed to understand what we'd already been offered and just wasted our time offring us a pretty poor deal regardless.

Best private buyer experience...
Bought my first proper car (dad had supplied me my first cars) an Opel Manta 2.0 RWD heaven, lowered suspension, uprated cam etc.
I bought the car and collected it a few days later, the seller knew my Dad wouldn't approve so he had washed it (so he'd see it in its full glory) and filled up the tank.
I bloody loved that car.
