Herbal Teas - With Flavour!
Discussion
Now I know that by definition Herbal Teas should be quite subtle in taste and aroma but how come the ones I keep buying are really very weak and bordering on bland and tasteless? Tescos and Twinings come to mind.
I'm (yet again) trying to wean myself off the alcohol and I'd like to stock up on some herbal teas - ones that are full of flavour, tasty, and above all healthy. I tried a PukkaHerbs Detox tea the other day that was quite nice so will check out some of their range at a nearby Health store later.
Anyone have some recommendations for others? I guess I could make my own but that might be cost-prohibitive and a bit too much of a faff?
Thanks for reading.

That takes me back.
As a child, my father and I would go out raiding London parks for lime blossoms to dry for herbal tea, also rose hips (scrape out the seeds and fluff and dry what's left).
From the garden, dried blackcurrant leaves and raspberry canes.
I hate most supermarket 'herbal tea'. It's sprayed with flavourings and once these have evaporated what's left tastes like wet hay.
Health food shops are a good source of the unusual and flavoursome: I particularly like lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) for a bit of a zesty 'lift'.

See if you can get hold of some proper mauritian vanilla tea. It's f'kin awesome.
Sounds Lefty! Where do you get yours from? Will have a Go Ogle later.
Thanks for your thoughts so farboys and girls. As MC alludes to most supermarket herbals are plain awful. How come they can make strong normal teas yet IMHO fail to provide stronger herbals?! Can't be rocket science surely.
Ooh I love a whinge!

I am a recent convert to herbal teas - I was put off by supermarket ones! My friend introduced me to a little shop in Norwich where they sell loads (a couple of hundred) of teas and they will let you taste/advise if you need it. Peach is very nice.
HI GG. Do you know the name of the shop in case they stock the Mauritian stuff?
