Well my 3R went in for a service today and it turns out I need a new front offside Hub and bearing. Nearly fell off my chair when the dealer called up and said Noble want over £1100 for Hub and bearing!

All I can say is thank god for Nobleparts, the man who set it up and the people who post thier findings

Called up ford and the price for the part number on the Wiki is now 142+vat, slight difference!

That is a pure pisstake! I'd be livid if I thought someone was trying to rip me off. Wouldn't go near them ever again either.

Sounds like a mistake to me !! Did the price include the alloy upright ??
The Ford units are a upgrade as the stub axle is not machined so it's straight !!!! You do need to change bearing as well , I'm guessing they have tried to push out the bearing and it's broken up on the stub axle !!! Arse if a job been fighting with mine all week :-(

Don't believe the dealer was trying to con me, he originally said he didn't think it would cost much more than £100, but was waiting for Noble to get back to him. He seemed genuinely suprised at the price and was happy for me to get the part myself.

Tuxman, was only told I need the hub and bearing. They hadn't taken it off, but during the service noticed a crack in the hub. They showed me the crack, it is in what I can only describe as the leading front edge of the hub, I think it's where the track rod end bolts to the hub? They said they had never seen this before. I haven't hit any pot holes and my wheels are like new. Fault in the hub maybe?

No not them, but don't get me started on them, I would never take my car there after what this dealer found wrong with it that could only have been done by them. Don't want to start slagging people off on a public forum as I don't believe it achieves anything. Can post in Noble parts if people are interested.

As I said don't think this dealer was trying to con me, they seem honest enough and I expect a little bit added on to parts for themselves. But I doubt very much they decided to add Nearly a £1000!

sounds to me like you are talking about the alloy upright ?? not the wheel hub or stub axle . think as gadge says we need a piccy .

if the alloy hub is damaged due to a loose bearing you could get it machined to fit a collar and push in a new bearing

make sure you fit the porsche hub nuts when it all goes back together

Well, looks like I got my wires crossed and I need the upright.



Pics a bit blurry, but the crack is where the Track rod end goes into the Hub/Upright.

After speaking to Tuxman he says his don't look machined, they look cast. Anybody know if this is a Noble specific part or off another car?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I thought the Porsche nuts were for the rear only - is there a front version as well?

My guess is it will be a ford or Rover part

(you could get it ally welded)

My rear upright was cracked and the uprights are around 1k from noble.... they are a noble only part so unless you are capable of getting your own one machined up from billet alloy you have 2 options... alloy welding the upright or buying new one from noble.

as thats the steering arm you need to be VERY sure the weld is good if you go this route... its a cast unit and welding may not be a good idea

Don't want to go the welding route. As expensive as the part is would rather pay and know it's done properly. Was just hoping they were another manufacturers off the shelf part.

Andy did you replace your fronts as well? From my searches seems unusual for people to have to replace the fronts.

it was a rear upright and had clearly been cracked when the upright was originally assembled... was a massive 1-2mm crack as well

I welded mine but id definatelly not get the front welded up were yours has cracked so your making the right decision

If its SWL then they are a decent set of chaps. They even dissuaded me from the TDS saying its well over priced for what it is!

If its where the track rod end connects then that is an upright, they do cost 1k and they are a modified part so you either have to buy from Noble or source one second hand.

Edit, sorry did not read the other posts properly before posting myself, it seems i am just reitterating what Andy has already confirmed to you.
