am i likely to have broken anything important?
Discussion
Well i was driving to work going around a sharpish corner around 30mph in second then gave it a quick blip of throttle as its uphill. Then bang the back end goes to the left i then over correct it to the right then i get a huge tank slapper to the left and then ive mounted the pavement and onto the grass verge.
A nice man then pushed me back onto the road as one of the back wheels were in the air.
And drove the last mile to work and it all seemed ok. And as far as i can tell. There is a big chunk of alloy missing and broken plastic on the front bumper.
I think i will get the wheel alignment checked but is there anything else i should check?
The car is a bmw e46 328ci
Cheers

Did something similar in my old Spitfire.
Bent the wheels, front uprights and rear driveshaft. Car still drove, if a bit wobbly. Probably a good thing I did bend the driveshaft, as it turned out to have been the wrong one (too short) which would probably explain the accident in the first place.

I had a big moment in a similar vein in the ice of the winter just gone. I ended up tankslapping, and then pointing towards the opposite carriageways traffic - but I managed to get the car back on course not before mounting the central dividing kerb with both right hand wheels leaving a couple of nasty kerbings.
Went and had the tracking checked, and the car was absolutely fine.

Well ill see if i notice anything on the drive home tonight.
But ill get the tracking etc checked in the morning and get them to have a quick ckeck off the wishbones etc.
But hopefully i will have got away with it as hopefully all the sideway action tookout most of the speed before impact.
And i think i will take corners a bit more gently now.

Matt,
I'd also check for a bent damper - in the dry see if behaviour turning left matches right. I've no idea how hard it is to do, but having seen it on a race car (wheel to wheel hit in a tin top - bent rear strut), it'll make your car handle like a death trap, but isn't instantly noticable until you lean on it =)

Get it up on ramps! I had to swerve coming in to a layby once, only to find that there was a narrow kerbstone along the edge, went straight over it.
Car drove fine for 4 months with no hint of a problem. Took it in for a service and they called me to come and have a look. Turns out that the cross members, steering arms and a couple of other linkages were all damaged and they refused to drive the car off their forecourt as it was dangerous!
