Mini one gearbox - New one needed

I have just been told that my mini one requires a new gearbox having covered 60,000 miles, Is anyone aware of problems with mini gearboxes, the car is an 04/53 plate, Can anyone recomend somewhere to get a reconditioned gearbox supplied and fitted in Kent

The pre 54 plate gear boxes are known to be a problem and do quite often fail.
