Here we are. Hello everyone! I am Leonardo, from Italy. Unfortunately I have a weakness, I'm crazy for British car and thank God I buy (and sell) some of them, occasionally. Until now I had mostly Lotus and 7 style. Last year I was lucky to buy a Noble 3R, but I sold it (incorrectly) and she's back in the UK. Well, let's go. Thanks to a tip of a well known UK builder of Ultima, the first days of October I threw myself into a new adventure. I bought the Ultima GTR from Builder (a user of this forum) from the USA and now we'll finish it and put it on the road. The car is travelling from America these days, I can not wait to have it in my hands!
In the meantime, I hope to know you and get some good informations and tips about this legendary car..

We update soon! Bye bye

It is a lovely car which got me thinking very seriously when it was on sale because of the very favourable exchange rate ($ to CHF), but I still want to do the build from the start.

Hello and congratulations on your purchase. I gave this some serious thought too living only a few hundred miles from Scott. He and I built our GTR's over much the same time frame and I have to say his/your build if first rate. You'll love the car. Enjoy!

Yes, you are right. It's impossible to register the car for the first time. But you car register the car (even if it's quite difficult) if the car is already registered in another EU country. smile

What was your Ultima? The Yellow one?

The Ultima built by Clive is this: http://www.autoscout24.it/Details.aspx?id=17503136...
A little expensive. Was painted blue , with number plate FM02JDF (Right?).
Congratulations Leo, for the new car , I'm glad it arrives another in Italy.

Hello everyone!

It's been 2 months since my last visit to this thread and things are going on.

The man who help me with the shipping from the US was very kind and helpful (JRJ customs service) and all was sort out with very few problems.

Otherwise, i'll try to be as polite as possible saying that the car was in no way in the conditions described by the seller, ther're a lot of more works to do, but patience..i think that everyone reaps what it sows.

Now that the GTR is in good hands (Kyle) will be fully controlled (especially the wires) and finished. It will take more time than expected but I will have patience, i think it's worth waiting for! Maybe this spring i will drive my GTR!?

Yes, all is ready for the IVA test, alredy got a date for this month. Now the Ultima only needed some road miles for the gearbox that is brand new and, when cold, is a little hard to use..

Good news, must be a fantastic ride...
only when cold? hm...could also be a to thick gear-oil...
had that once with my Hartge, changed it for the "best" stuff specially for 6 speed also...
but my 6-speed BMW gearbox did not like it, yes when the oil was warm it was perfect, but when cold it was difficult to get in some gears biggrin so after a few test days I changed it for the BMW spec gear-oil and then all was normal again even when cold or hot, some boxes are very delicate for some oils biggrin

I think Kyle have already changed the oil...probabily the problem is that the gearbox is brand new and it need to run for a couple of miles to improve...

yes, I meant maybe that (new) oil for that new gearbox is to thick?
maybe ask around (if the oil is the thing...because when warm its fine)
what oil type is best for that specific gearbox? and see what type/sort oil he has in that gearbox.

Yes, i understand what you mean Rene. The mechanic (i think he know what is the oil to use in a G50/52 gearbox) alredy change it.
